So in september im going to school to study to be a programmer analyst. Anyone know what is really involved in that type of job, i know i have a friend who works as a systems analyst and she watches over a payroll program to ensure everything works correctly, but do they have to write programs and do they learn and to write code like java and C++ and all that or do they just monitor these programs of what?

You need both, so yes you're probably gonna have to learn to program. But if you lean towards becoming an system analyst http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Systems_analyst it would involve more paperwork and no programming, rather you'd be interacting with real users, collecting specifications, testing, writing manuals etc
