how do i make a semi-transparent background so the text will stand out from the main background?
in what software ?
in GIMP it's relatively easy
BTW: there are plenty of GIMP tutorials on net, and GIMP is Available for Windows, i think you just need to install the GTK+ runtime first
and GIMP is very poweful but not easy to start using
but i have photoshop:doh:
try this link instead
of just look at this google search [google]photoshop semi transparent background[/google]
Edit: try now
thanks for the link, but that's transparent backgrounds, not semi-transparent backgrounds, and i've googled it already but can't find any tutorials on it.
In Photoshop just adjust the opacity of the layer you want to be 'semi' transparent.
You can do that in the layers palette - select the layer you want and the opacity slider should be at the top of the palette.
I think that's what you're trying to achieve.
yup... I got that done... guess who helped me.... MY YOUNGER BROTHER!!!! im so ashamed... but then again, I'm a hardware guy trying to be a web designer/developer..
