nope :swear: its really starting to annoy me!! do i need to 'set them up' when i download them as all i am doing is pressing setup and it doesnt work!
Oh.... Check that your onboard sound is enabled in the CMOS setup (BIOS). Do you know how to do this? We shall have to backtrack if the BIOS turns out OK. For example: -What were you doing around the time the sound completely dissapeared? -What exactly happened when you tried to install those drivers I gave you -What exactly happened when you double clicked the add new hardware wizard in the control panel?
Just had a thought.... Do you have the CD-ROM that came with your computer? The sound card drivers will be located on it.

Restart your computer Press DELETE (you may have to press ESC, F1, F2, F10 or F12 instead) when the computer POSTs (just before Windows starts to load) Look around for an option that is similiar to 'Onboard Sound' and make sure it is enabled I can't tell you exactly where this 'Onboard Sound' option will be because every CMOS Setup (BIOS) is different. However, it may be under 'Chipset Features'.
you need to download a program called Everest or Belarc .. it will give you all the info you need on all your devices..
