Hey having some more problems with the hand me down pc i gave to my bud. Well he has 2.1 speakers, which the onboard soundmax won't detect. The most we can get out of it is left and right speakers but no subwoofer. The thing is that theres only one cable that goes from the subwoofer to the pc soundcard. The satellite speakers connect to the subwoofer and can't connect to the soundcard. Can anyone help me configure this thing to play sound to all speakers and the subwoofer? (soundmax has no option for 2.1 sound, just 4 speakers, 2 speakers, and 5.1....weird) oh , and the speakers are permanently affixed to the subwoofer, only outgoing wire is the subwoofer to pc wire.

Well if they don't have an option for 2.1 then I see no reason for it to work, stupid as this may be you're either stuck with it as far as I can see (wait for other members;)), or you can always update those drivers for the soundmax. Very strange not having 2.1 support, that's pretty much the most common.

Yeah, that would hardly cost you anything, $15 at most I would think.

Thanks! got any links to these cheap cards? I'll definitely order him one. 8 bucks can't go wrong. As long as it plays his 2.1 i don't care what brand it is.

Hey thanks man, do you know if these will definitely support 2.1? because his 2.1 speakers work through only one jack coming out of the subwoofer. (i know NOTHING when it comes to sound, i have 5.1 speakers and just plug everything in corresponding colored holes)

wait for other members, I think with that you'd just plug it into front speakers, but I'd wait for other members to comment too

Yeah it should work fine, all cards support Line In, just plug away. At the very worst you'll blow 8 bucks. But I hightly doubt you'll have any probs.
