I need to know what this information means:

    x86 family 6 model 8 stepping 6

    I know that family 6 =pentium pro
    model 8 = PIII
    stepping 6 = approx 700Mhz

I need to know all of them, I need to memorize them, is there a chart identifying each stepping etc.....? stepping 5 =? stepping 7=? model 7=? I have searched google, intel, microsoft and I cant find that info anywhere. What I do find is incomplete.

    anyhelp would be appreciated.

    thanks

I know Intel has an S-spec chart for their CPU's, but it's codes printed on the CPU, like SL8YZ...some 5-digit alphanumeric code starting with S. I know AMD has some stuff like you're asking listed, but I'm not sure about Intel. I'm kinda curious as to what purpose this serves anyway.
