    Hi there,

As my FX6300 and ASUS 760G motherboard are defective, I have asked for a refund so I can buy new hardware. What motherboard and CPU should I go for? Will I need to buy new Windows? Its OEM and has already been used twice now, although I have not had to call MS up. Here are the builds below. I play TS 2016, TF2, CS:GO, Minecraft, and might start playing a little bit of GTA 5.

    Pentium G3258
    Corsair H55 liquid cooler
    Gigabyte Z97X UD3H

    OC to 4.4-4.7GHZ

    Core i3 4160
    Gigabyte Z97X UD3H

    Core i3 6100
    Gigabyte H170 HD3 DDR3

    Thanks, Alex

I would go with the i3 6100/H170 combo since that's the newest platform and would give you more options down the road. As for Windows, worst case scenario, you may need to call them up if the activation system gives you trouble. It's mostly for people trying to run multiple systems off a single user license. It's silly, but those are the rules. Anyway, you shouldn't need to buy another copy of Windows unless you need it for a second system.
