I have recently shifted to my uncles place.... I have got a fridge and my uncle has got one as well. I really dont want to run my fridge when there is no use of it coz it jst adds electricity bill nd no use. But I have heard that if I leave my fridge turned off then it will release the gas inside or something which will cost much more than leaving it on... Is that true? If I leave the fridge off will it get defective?

    In one word - no.
To elaborate slightly (cause I'm at work and bored) the system is air tight by design. Unless the make is crapy the system should not loose any gas even if left for a very long time. Look at it this way - If the fridge cannot hold the gas while off (which is less strainous on the system), sooner or later the gas will leak out, rendering your fridge a massive paper-weight.

    Capiche?

Lol, if leaving a fridge off would make them defective, that would mean in stores like Currys, they would all be turned on ahaha, in went into currys once, there was like 200 prodges on the shop floor, not one was turned on, that says it all :)
