I'm currently running Vista 64 Ultimate and I was wondering if I should update?

Thank you for any advice and explaining to me the differences.

In terms of features and usability Windows 7 is the un-challenged OS till date. If you have been running Vista, then obviously you want to know difference between Vista and Windows 7, before making the wise decision.

    Thanks

I would like to see the Start-up time faster. I want to turn on, and start to work. Shut down time also could be faster. Loading of program and right clicking of mouse options could be faster. Less processers running would be nice.

    Thanks

Most of the difference is eye candy..It is just as big if not bigger than Vista, I just removed it and went back to XP...

I have been contemplating to upgrade to Windows 7 since it came out. I tried Vista but went back to XP. I feel safe with XP for the longest time.

Better eye candy... yeah. But i think you're missing out on a few things. 7 is definitely faster than Vista. It loads less services which Vista redundantly has, and from experience, has fewer crashes than Vista.

Bottom line Storm - 7 is a bit faster than Vista and looks a bit better. If it's not a hassle, upgrade

I agree with you , It is faster and more stable than Vista, But I prefer XP over them both... I have Win 7 on two of my other computers along with Vista on two other computers.. But I keep coming back to XP..

Let me simplify this. Whats the difference between 2 GB of RAM and 4 GB of RAM? The 4 GB of RAM is better. In the same way, Microsoft has released a beta of its new Operating System [OS] called Windows 7. Its SUPPOSED to be faster, better, cooler and is believed to have much more features. If you used Windows Vista, you would know its really very slow. Microsoft's sales went down, and Vista was a flop. Thus, Windows 7 is the new version of Windows which will come out in some time.

Windows 7 is much better than vista cause this system isn't raping your computer components like vista does ,
    just like XP
so , what microsoft did is very simple ,
they do another :"windows vista" based on Windows XP
and VUALA ! here is Windows 7 ...

Windows 7 has better performance and stability than Vista. Besides that, some improvements. These include (but not limited to): Gadgets are now optional and placed on the desktop instead of the gadget bar, new task bar which groups windows together based on the program (which annoys me personally to be honest), a button at the right side of the task bar to hide all windows (or look through them when hovering the mouse cursor above it), and some other improvements.

If you have used 7, you won't go back to Vista. Vista feels like the Windows '98 of the last decade ;)

lol... Well, you have to admit, XP still has a few ancient looking icons (16-bit).

Yep, 8 is expected to be released late 2011, early 2012 (which i highly doubt)... You can get Windows 8 builds if you want to test them out. Just google it.

Fun fact for all you XP users: XP will fall out of support by the year 2014. That means commercial business will be urged to switch over to Vista or 7. Also, there will be no more updates provided for XP when support is discontinued.
Wow, how time flies. I remember the year 2001, shortly after receiving my copy of XP, i was 13 years old and just beginning my adventures of computer toying and exploration. I remember stumbling upon this article on my 56k about the release of two succeeding operating systems which were expected to be released in 2003 and 2005. "Windows Longhorn" and "Windows Blackcomb". Boy those release dates were skewed off!!! Anyway... XP was very simple, clean, and fast. Sad that this modern marvel (at least for its time) will be out of support soon. I was actually thinking of switching over to it from my 7, but i like this glass look. Plus, i have 8 gigs of memory and a Q6600 which take care of 7's heavy resource demand.

Adieu XP, you will be missed :'(
