The last I read, there was no announced price. However, the article said it is expected to be released in the US for 300 US dollars! :eek:hah: Which, if i recall correctly, is about 128 pounds. (if thats the correct terminology)

Yeah, see how long that idea lasts. About the same as this part:

"There is nothing wrong with our consoles! They are in perfect working order!"

    *Few months later*

"No power cords work! Send them back!!!"

    *rolls eyes*

300-500! Heck the gfx card alone costs more than that. I'm very impressed:good: Of course I personanly think they should have developed their own card or used SLI becuase while that's the fastest current card it's going to be pretty dull in a few years like everything else.

Interesting...G5's. I personally thing that Sony and MS don't remember how to make good contollers, neither of their controller designs for the Xbox360 nor the PS3 appeal to me, the 360's is too cluncky and the PS3's is too long and narrow (reminds me or the N64's controllers).
Oh, and any word on the upcomming console form Nintendo?

hahaha..guess they couldn't afford to have the BSOD ruin the 360's grand unveiling...

Very dumb name, Xbox 2 isn't by any means origional but at least it makes sense. I'd opt for the PS3 myself, it's just going to be newer and faster, I want the best. Though by the time it comes out the pc's wont be far behind anyway. It would be cool if Samsung made a console, that's a company with some nice ideas.

And although the XBOX 360 will have 3 IBM CPUs at 3.2GHz the PS3 uses the much awaited Cell. With 12 or so smaller CPUs and an original architecture hopefully it will do more than a brute computing force method of its counterpart.

the cell has the capability of decoding 48 high-definition videos and resize them all to play simultaneously on one screen. crazy.

I liked the original prototype name for xbox 2 - Xenon.

something about that really appealed to me.

You may like the PS3 with Cell. But games developers won't. The SPE's on the Cell are more specialised than first thought, and coding your game to properly use the SPE's is going to be hard. Not like the generalised approach of the 360. The cell is years ahead of its time.
Seen the 1TFLOPS advertising? Don't trust it. Thats based on the assumption that all the SPE's and PPE are fed with instructions at all times and branch predictions on the PPE are perfect and memory latency is 100% constant with no errors. The Cell and 3PowerPC cores aren't going to be as powerful is real day use than the Athlon64 or P4.
The graphics cards are good though.
