I downloaded the free 180 day trial for XP Pro 64 edition from Microsoft.

Burned the image to disc, it reads in the drive as XP 64, so thats all fine however. Once i click to install it says that this version of windows is not compatible with my machine! Cant understand why?

    Specs
    P4 3.4 skt 775 EMT 64
Asustek EMT 64 bit enabled m/board
1 gig of 533 mhz Hynix DDR 2 ram
    x 2 Maxtor 80 gig S/ata h/drives
    PNY 6800 256mb (PCI express)

Is there something else i have to change in the bios before trying to install?
My friend has a 64 bit AMD system and he gets the exact same message! HIs is an official full retail version too. Very very stuck:rolleyes:

Try booting from the disc instead of trying to start the installation from windows.

Why dont you try a 64 bit version of linux, nearly every linux distribution has one and they have been around for a lot longer (so thers more softwore, and 99% of the softwares FREEEEEE!)

and you will get all the general advantages of linux (stable, secure, FREEEEEE :p)

If your into games and you REALLY want to use windoze, use linux untill the price comes down of 64 bit windoze (i doubt theres gona be many games for quite awhile tho)
