I can't seem to get the disk to install,I am holding down the (C) button at startup, but it just goes into OS 9 instead.. Any Ideas?
Your G3 Mac is considered an "Old World" Mac. That means that the firmware makes things tricky at best, but it can be done (I've done it several times before). https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Installation/OldWorldMacs
Ok, What is the best way for me to get this installed ? I checked that website, but man ! is that the only way ? is there any short cuts you can show me. Why won't mac reconize the cd of xubuntu ? Any help would be so cool..
It's just something you have to deal with on old Apple hardware, sorry. But once you get it installed, you never have to do it again -- it'll run forever.
If I ever get that far.... I get this error message.. Waiting for root files system, Then is says ( Alert) Root files does not Exist. Dropping to shell, Then it just freezes...
ok,I boot mac up and i am waiting for the boot screen to boot mac or linux, I have your disk installed and then I click on linux to boot,It goes through the text process like it is starting to setup and load, then it stops and freezes at the point I said before.
