    but anyhow...

hey small forums are great, dont take that wrong

but really, who the heck ranked zippy supplies high?

the minimum you should spend on a supply is 80 bucks...

and it should be a minimum of 450 watts

and it better have 20 amps at least on the 12 volt line

    imho

I cant comment Ive had no experience with Zippy drives

IMO it depends on the circumstance. Ive you've got a little old lady who only wants to play solitaire and doesnt need a big beefy PC 450w is not needed

Although the list seems about right, it's too generalised for it's own good. I would rather see model numbers over brand names

Yes, i would really like to see where you got this information from.
We want a link to the exact place where you got it, not a pimpin link to your website please.

we dont need a "pimping link" pelva...nic originally asked for the forum ..than quickly edited it and asked for a source for the list...
which was put together by people that actually do repairs for a living, not a bunch of kids playing computer games....

As much as I welcome a knowledgeable person registering, if you're just going to come here and gripe about HWF, then leave. I have no issues with someone dispelling rumors, but you can do it in a less negative tone that you've given throughout your posts.

    i hear u

    this isn't negative?

i was asked for a forum link, then coincidently the post was edited for a psu origin link.. then accused of pimping a site.

when you have one of the lowest rated supplies as high, do you think your doing your members justice? and when a tech corrects an obvious mistake, i get the wrath of members

i didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings with putting down zippy power supplies.

Actually, in this case, it's not site pimping because of how it references a source in a manner not designed to draw attention to the other site. The site pimping we're talking about is the deliberate attempt to use this forum as free advertising for someone's website.

    Let's go over this slowly.
First of all, with the exception of Zippy power supplies, the database does correlate with a lot of other sources as to which are the quality power supplies.
Second, what I've seen of Zippy power supplies had left the brand in a positive light.
Third, this is the internet, and outside of putting effort into finding out who you are, I don't know you from Adam. Theoretically, you could be some homeless guy posting on a library computer. I'm not saying you are, but how would any of us know? Think about it: you burst through the door (figuratively) announce with some attitude that you're a tech, so you should be listened to. I've seen a lot of so-called professionals that have less knowledge than I do yet have a job as a tech at a lot of local shops in town.
I'm not doubting your knowledge---only time will show that---what I am saying is that you haven't been established here, TSFHARDWARE.

As for sigs, it's our site and therefore our business. You can disable viewing sigs if you go to 'Edit Options' near the top of the page and scroll down to the 'Thread Display Options' portion of that page.

From what I can see, there's been some misunderstandings, but there's also been some criticism of this forum in your posts. The reaction goes back to the fact that you're a new registered user here. I bet the first thing you like to hear a new member over at your site do is come over and say how much they don't like the layout of your forums.
The goals of this site involve relaying the correct information on computer technology. It doesn't matter if someone's a newbie, a gamer, or an advanced tech.

funny thing is that this list does need some adjustment
this should be Low to Medium

thats a real nice welcome you give new members by the way..right out of the shoot.

your on to me..how did you know? it must have been my vernacular.
i guess you sign up alot of homeless folks as members through the library?
that wouldn't be the worst thing for an unfortunate homeless person to do.

    Look,

You've come out and stated that you're a tech, and have insinuated that because of this, we should automatically listen to you. Nobody has said that you are not. We have questioned you because:

1.) You are a new registered user; and
    2.) We don't know you.

People do tend to be skeptical of people like that. Do you honestly think we are all that naive to believe anything anyone says about computer hardware?
I sure wouldn't expect anyone to look at a few posts I make on some other forum to think that I have to know it because I said so. I could claim I'm A+ Certified and have a CCNA and MCSE, but even if that were true, would you expect them to take my word as gold?

As I've stated before, we don't know you.
I sincerely hope you don't cop this attitude with your customers if they have questions.

    Hey TSF

Lets just please bring the whole thing down a bit.
My statement about taking your word for it was in jest, hence the smiley at the end. I am sorry if you took it the wrong way. I should have started by welcoming you... my bad.
However, I am still a bit confused....

Please lets forget the mutual mud slinging for the moment and behave like adults. In other words lets start over.
You know the list you submitted in your first post,
    where is the list from?
Was it first published here in this forum?
The reason I am asking is because there was no reference to any place where it was coming from like 'Tom's Hardware' etc. You also never mentioned in your first post that you were indeed a techy.

Now, now children! You all behave or the moderator will woop your ass!!!
(that was a joke by the way.....) :D

    HAHA!

I may be a 'kid' to some people as I'm younger than them but that doesn't automatically mean I know less does it?! Don't criticise what you don't know.

With this subject I agree with megamaced and pelvis_3 - Model Numbers help, general names don't. Antec have had some problems before with certain models but generally they're PSU's are quality units.

Okay you want to ctiticise things, fine... whoever coded your layout for your forums didnt think about milti-line headers for the content boxes, that background cuts right through the text and destroys the look - might want to check into that. And your header image is just cut off at the top making it look like it's stopping abrubtly and not going anywhere - check into that too.

Apologies to Mods and Admins (Members too) on here if I shouldn't be criticising but you shouldnt come here to tell us what to do whilst criticising us, things don't work like that.

In response to pelvis_3's comment about kids are the future, damn straight we are - and if you don't like it what are ya gonna do?

So what if you call yourself a 'techy' doesn't mean you are one, I know places where people call themselves 'techies' and I wouldn't trust them to use a kettle.
We welcome new members well, but when a new member comes on here saying they know better without have a firm base to stand on we'll nudge that base to see if it holds up. You're not a known member or someone who has made any real contribution to this forum, so why should we believe you -- because you say you're from a forum that's better than this? Because you call yourself a 'tech'? I think not.

    </rant>

Admins and Mods - feel free to edit this, I'm just saying what I think, I'm rather peeved about this situation to be honest.
