Default Troubleshooting - Is it my graphics card

Hi, i am unable to boot up a friends machine.

I get 6 short beeps and 1 long beep.

My graphics card is integrated.

My motherboard is labelled W26361.

Any ideas?

I'm probably being a little vague but ask me anything.

take out the ram and then put it back in again, then test

if fail, unplug all cd/dvd drives, floppy, card reader, harddrive and test

if fail try different ram if possible, or put the ram in a different slot.

The beep codes could indicate a problem with the motherboard, as indicated here: PC Hell: BIOS Error Beep Codes but half the time beep codes are a hassle because they aren't universal codes and diffeent companies tinker with the beeps all the time. You could do a search for the motherboard and see if they post beepcodes in either the manual or elsewhere on the site, but usually doing an isolation test (above) will get you further in understanding the problem quicker.

I'd personally see if you can borrow somebody else's before you buy one, because if you have integrated graphics on your motherboard it will point to your motherboard being faulty... and most of the time adding a new video card wont fix it - add to that the beeps and it will point to a motherboard fault

Doesnt sound like a video error code. But 6 beeps is a Gate A20 error. Try making sure the Keyboard is plugged in good or try another one.
