    Default Unable to change desktop background [windows XP]

    hey all,

    A friends computer has got me stumped, i can change the colour of the background but i cant select any image to be used as a background (the entire box is grayed out [and the browse button & center/tile/stretch selection box)!).

    any suggestions? Thanks is advanced

    This looks like some kind of virus infection. I'd suggest to do a virus scan (Trend Micro HouseCall - Free Online Virus and Spyware Scan or a different online scanner). If that doesn't solve it, use Registry Mechanic to do a registry scan.

    Guessing that this is XP, Can you go into C: /Windows/Web/Wallpaper/ right click and set as wallpaper ..

    I don't know if that will work (above) but it gives me a few more things to try that i hadn't tried.

    Because the pc games of today don't run on linux, otherwise many more people would switch, including me

    o'rly?

    I'm playing Counter strike source and unreal 2004 on my machine and Postal 2... and i belive all the quakes also work in linux [native versions, not with wine/cedega]

    go to Properties > Desktop > Customise Desktop > Under tab Web, if anything is clicked then unclick it and set your wallpaper after that..
