Hi
My daughter has chaged the name on her account in windows, she logged out now she can no longer log in, as windows starts up it asks for a password to enter her account, she tells me she hs never set a passowrd, just in case we have tried all passowrds she has ever used but no success!

I would be grateful if anyone could offer a solution to this problem, she is only 10 and may not see 11!!

My Computer

Welcome to hardwareforums janiepdurham!

I am assuming you daughter is using windows 2000 or XP!

The easiest way to get back in is too see if the Administrators password has been set (On most machines this account is not password protected).

If you can type in the name of the account you want to log into when it asks for a password enter 'Administrator' and hit enter.

If your login screen looks something like this then you will have to boot the machine up in safe mode and then administrator account. To start the computer in safe mode turn it off, hit the power button and then tap the F8 key repeatedly (about half a second apart) until you see a screen that looks like this.

If the Administrator account does have a password, don't worry it can be dealt with! (i am assuming it does not have a password set though)

Go into the control panel and then select users, you should be able to change your daughters password from there (i can't remember where specifically as i don't use windows).

good luck!
