Defo you should go for the 8800GTS, would improve game fps for you

also i think you should increase your memory to like 4GB

BTW what is your PSU????

Thanks Pimp,

I read that windows vista 32 bit could only utilize 2-3Gb of ram though, or am i mistaken?

My PSU is a STANDARD 350W PSU with CASE FAN, i have a feeling this isn't compatible with my current 8600 GTS 512mb and this may be my current problem.

Yes you are correct with 4GB but 3GB would be fine

again you are correct that PSU is no good you would probably need a 450W or 500W if you want a 8600GT but 8800GTS 600W+

So you would now recommend i get the 9800 GTX over the 512mb 8800 GTS ?

Also would the 512mb 8800 GTS be preferable over the 9600?

Many thanks for your help

A 512mb 9800GTX is better then a 8800GTS 512mb and not a huge price gap between them.

an 8800GTS is better then a 9600GT becuase the 9600 is the low end version of the 9 series and the 8800GTS is mid/high end of 8 series.

and perhaps some day you can help me out on an issue

My Computer

you know what I take that all back

two 9600 GT in sli would own anything, even the 3870x2 (not the 9800GX2 though lol), and they're only $175 AU each

How would they, show me the proof
your saying that a 9600GT in SLi will beat a 8800 series and 9800GTX, well first of all you can't compare two cards against 1 that's simply not right, as for the 9600GT in Sli beating a 3870x2 i really doubt it, the 3870x2 is very good at overclocking, so by overclock it your self you would get big difference in performance from a standard 3870x2 especially now you can get water cooling blocks for it. So what I'm trying to say is that an overclocked 3870x2 will beat a 9600GTin SLi, unless you can show me some perhaps benchmarks to show that I'm wrong.
