Default Upgrades / Questions

I'm building my mom a computer from some parts from my old comp, then buying the rest. She just checks her e-mail basically, so I just want the new parts to be on par with the old. I'm also going to be upgrading my own comp.

Here's old comp:

MSI 865PE Neo2-LS (MSI 865PE Neo2-LS Product Information)

Asus Radeon 9800XT ([H] Enthusiast - Asus Radeon 9800XT/TVD)

P4 2.4 with hyperthreading (can't find the box for exact name)

Here's my current comp:

LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D (http://www.dfi.com.tw/Product/xx_pro...YPE=LP&SITE=US)

AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 2.2GHz (Newegg.com - AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 2.2GHz 1MB L2 Cache Socket 939 Single-Core Processor - Processors)

EVGA GeForce 7950GT 512MB (Newegg.com - EVGA 512-P2-N635-AR GeForce 7950GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported KO HDCP Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards)

Corsair TwinX CMX512-3200C2 XMS3202v5.1 (can't find a good link, but I think it's DDR SDRAM 400 PC3200 or something)

Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 80GB (Maxtor Storage 6Y080M0 Specifications - Hard Drive)

Here's what I'm thinking for me:

Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3250410AS 250GB (Newegg.com - Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3250410AS 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives)

OCZ Platinum 2GB (2 x 1GB) (Newegg.com - OCZ Platinum 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory) [I'd give my Corsair to my mom]

ASUS Xonar DX 7.1 (Newegg.com - ASUS Xonar DX 7.1 Channels PCI Express Interface Sound Card - Sound Cards)

Here's what I'm thinking for my mom:

Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3250410AS 250GB (Newegg.com - Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3250410AS 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives)

LIAN LI PC-A05B Black Aluminum ATX Mid Tower (Newegg.com - LIAN LI PC-A05B Black Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases)

BenQ G2000WD Silver-Black 20.1" 5ms Widescreen LCD (Newegg.com - BenQ G2000WD Silver-Black 20.1" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 250 cd/m2 1000:1 - LCD Monitors)

LITE-ON Black(Newegg.com - LITE-ON Black 20X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 20X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA 20X DVD±R DVD Burner - CD / DVD Burners)

Thermaltake W0093RU ATX 12V 2.0 Version 500W (Newegg.com - Thermaltake W0093RU ATX 12V 2.0 Version 500W Power Supply 115/230 V UL, CUL, TUV, FCC, and CB - Power Supplies)

Logitech S-220 2.1 Multimedia Speaker System (Newegg.com - Logitech S-220 2.1 Multimedia Speaker System - Speakers)

Questions:

Are these good choices?

Is everything compatible?

Will I need to buy a network card or anything else for my mom's comp?

Is the soundcard a good upgrade from onboard?

I picked that monitor because I compared it to the BenQ FP202W V3 (Newegg.com - BenQ FP202W V3 Black 20" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 1000:1 - LCD Monitors) which isn't on BenQ's site anymore, so I assume it's older. I'm kind of scared of getting the G2000WD since there's no reviews on it anywhere. But I think that's just because it's new?

I don't know much about this stuff. Any help is appreciated!
