Hi all,
So here's the deal. I have two computers, which will never be on at the same time. One has a DVI output, the other VGA. I recently bought an LCD monitor that has both VGA and DVI inputs. My question is, would it be safe to connect one computer to the DVI and the other to the VGA at the same time, as long as there is only one computer on at a time. Thanks for any help. EDIT: Safely? One will be Ubuntu the other XP Last edited by m60dude5; 13-06-2008 at 10:57 PM. Reason: Wanted to make sure it was safe to do |

Simply, the screen is reading the information coming from the vga/dvi cable. if the one computer is not on, no info is sent along the cable and therefore the screen doesn't know it's there.
Ergo: Yes you can hook up 2 pc's to one screen as long as only one is on. With regard to xp and ubuntu. all the screen is showing is an image of what it's being told to show. there will be no safety issues with regard to what is showing on the screen...
