Default Which USB wireless internet adaptor?

Becuase of a delivery mess up i have ended up with 2 different adaptors and would like to know which one would most fit what i need, so i can return the other. The N1 was £40 and the G+ was £10. I will be using it on my desktop PC less than 5 meters away from my BT home hub router. I will be using it for downloading, streaming and playing online games.

Belkin : N1 Wireless USB Adapter
Belkin : Wireless G+ USB Adapter

Thank you.

The N adapter is useful if you want to add the computer to a network. The high speed of the N series is very useful to transfer files between computers (using a router), or if your computer is more than 20 meters away from the router But if you only use it to connect to the internet, then the G version is sufficient because it's much faster than most internet connections. If your router doesn't support N, then it won't be faster than the G version.

So in your case, the G adapter is the best choice.

Thanks, i understand that it will be faster than my BT home hub but im worried about the range. On the box it has some diagrams that sort of show that the range of the G+ will just go to the same room? I wont be too far away from the hub but it will be on another floor and im worried i will be getting disconnected all the time.

I'm using some Wireless G devices, and they all reach to about 20 meters. Walls could obstruct the range, but it should reach to about 2-3 rooms.

How long is a piece of string?
802.11G has a theoretical indoor range of 38meters un-obstructed so, if your router has good antennae,
you'll be able to go farther than 20 meters and still get at least 20% signal strength.
There are so many variables that contribute to what sort of range you'll be able to get using a wireless connection.
