My Computer

Default Virus Aftermath.. please please help me

INTERNET SECURITY 2010 (the trojan deluxe virus suite 2010 yes..)
removed using malwarebytes software.

Normal Bot is OK
Safe-mode no go =(

During and after virus removal trying safe mode results in a blue screen with horizontal "?" at the top.

One of the trojans must have disabled it somehow but removing the trojan didn't reverse the effect. Perhaps someone here knows enough about how safe mode works to tell me what could be casing this.

Thnx.

that sounds bad. Safe Mode is supposed to be only NECESSARY software, as in that which is crucial for it to work. Try to run Malwarebytes again in a few days, as well as any other software.
also, consider using a recovery disc and doing a fixmbr and fixboot command, in case its hidding in your bootsector.

Personally, if the infection is bad enough to damage Safe Mode I would Re-format the computer, after backing up all files/folders i care about and erasing the drive. Drastic, but effective.
also, MyNetWatchman makes SecCheck [http://www.mynetwatchman.com/tools/sc/] that will scan for any open network connections/running programs, and compare them to a vast database. anything flagged red or unknown is an area of interest.

I don't think the name is actually "Internet Security 2010". Are you able to give me the name of the "application" that pops up on your screen when you boot to normal mode (ex. Antivirus 2010)? I'm not able to find that name online so it's hard to help you based on the info given so far.

If you're really set on keeping your information, I'll be happy to do my best to help you. That said, valamar's suggestion may very well be your best bet. Not only is it going to be difficult to get your system to a working state again, but it will likely never be quite the same.

thanks. Its all over now though, my system won't boot at all now. BSOD and leaves no clues, BSOD on safe mode too. Used to be just a blue screen with a question mark.

The name of the application is actually Internet Security 2010.
How To Uninstall / Remove Internet Security 2010 Virus (Removal Guide) – SoftSailor

I did a repair install from setup cd, this pushed the time of the BSOD a few seconds later than it used to appear. The only clue I have is that when the windows logo loading screen pops up, it stammers probably reloading some driver (probably usb drivers since USB power cuts off momentarily at this point) Not sure how to go about locating the driver or the cause of this problem. I could possibly reinstall USB drivers but I don't have a diskette drive lol.

Well, it sounds like as this point your best bet would be to backup any important data you may have and reinstall. Sorry for your problem!

clean install is a definite. your virus has wrecked your installation of windows, and its really hard to repair it by hand. even if you get it going, odds are there's some remnants left over.
on newer computers, the OEM (manufacturer) has an option to just restore windows, leaving all apps and documents. You can try this, and it should fix your BSOD, but it may not remove the infection, so it is a risk.
