Hello one and all
I have an irritating problem that I can't find the answer to that concerns the display of webpages such as this one where the shading of the forum or the backgrounds are missing. I am using XP pro with Firefox but the problem also occurs in IE. pictures display fine it seems it is only the background fill shading to the various frames which are missing. I am not sure whether it is a missing plugin of some sort or a setting of my screen or graphics card If anyone can point me in the right direction for a plugin or a setup tweak, I would very much appreciate it thanks |

Thanks for the welcome!
It does not obviously seem that is is exclusively with browsers as I have had a similar background fill colour missing with MS Money too, which makes me think it is a display setting problem. However when I alter it in options it displays fine until the program is closed after which when it is opened again the colours are missing. Dont' see the same kind of colour option in the browsers so don't know for sure if it would be possible to at least turn the colours on for the current session (Not all colours are missing - just the fill colours which do not include an image of any sort) I have done a virus and adware scan and nothing that was found (adware) and deleted affected the problem. The only computer I have the problem on is a newly reformated laptop with an ATI Mobility Radeon adapter. The screen seems to work perfectly in every other way. Any ideas? |

Thanks for your suggestion, having searched a little around a little it seems that this could well be the cause of the problem.
The comp is an aging Sony laptop with the driver going back to 2001. However Sony apparently only provides the original driver for the model which I suspect is what I have already got. Looking for the latest driver via ATI, I have been led on a bit of a merry go round that I do not fully understand but the long and the short of it is I have downloaded a suite of drivers (Catalyst) which will not open because it asked for a .net framework, which I d/l then it asked for the next version which I d/l but won't install because it needs some kind of validation which the comp was not able to provide. I also d/l a DH mod tool from driverheaven which listed my card in relation to the catalyst suite but all in all I haven't been able to update the driver. Does anyone know a solution or a simpler way to get an updated driver for my card? - Should I post this query direct into another section perhaps? Thanks for any help |

go to http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate, you will see after searching all the updates they shows the Hardware updates in as well... Just select them and install them from there...
