    Default What graphics card?

I've built a AMD64Bit system, nice hardware, only thing i'm missing really is a good graphics card, I currently have a TI4200 (i burnt out my X800Pro and my 6800 i just send back cos it wouldnt work and i got refund..)

I want to spend as little as possible, but i want a good card, a card thats solid, a good performer and i want a card that's really going to not give me any lag issues playing medium to high settings in new games such as HL2 / Farcry 64Bit e.t.c

My 6800 was a Leadtek 6800LE that was clocked at 6800 speeds..

I like the idea of a 9800Pro 128mb, although perhaps its getting alittle bit old towards some of the newer games?

I've survived up until now on a 9600XT 128mb (v.good card - v.happy with it) but obviously i need something slightly more powerful..

If anyone could suggest any good cards for a good price? (In UK)

You might look into a Radeon X700 or GeForce 6600GT. Might run a little more than the 9800Pro, but they'll have some extra grunt to go with it.

Then its just the old AGP radeons that are decent. You can try the 9800XT which is faster than the pro.

Well i just want a card really that will play Half-Life 2 and modifications well, (the higher the FPS the better really) - on decent graphics.. and a card that will do well in video editing.

Apart from the 6800s and X800s theres only the Radeon 9x00 and GFX 5xx0 that are AGP and worth getting.

Yeah, but for the price, it's not the best deal. You might as well spend another $20 and get a GF6800 NU/NGT (non-ultra/non-GT).

I think that for the money a 9800 Pro 128mb is a good buy. But then what do I know? I can't even make mine work. If I had the budget I'd consider a 9800XT.

Dont drop down a generation. Either go with the GeForce 6-Series or the ATI Xx00 series. 6800GT would be your best bet but you may not be able to spend that much. Just keep in mind, your system is nothing towards games without a solid g-card to back it up
