Default Wich system is better for the same price? (Core 2 quad vs Xeon v8)

Hi, I'm looking to build a new system for doing video work and 3d (After Effects, 3DSMAX and Premiere)

I'm, considering two systems (newegg.com prices), one desktop and another server/workstation. Surprisingly, the price of the two systems is almost the same!

1149$ Desktop system:
-Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 2,6gGHz to be released soon) -> 350$
-ASUS MAXIMUS EXTREME motherboard -> 350$
-4GB Corsair Dominator PC8500 memory > 189$
-Antec P180 case -> 90$
-CORSAIR CMPSU-620HX PSU ->170$

1453$ Server/workstation V8 Xeon system:
-2x Intel Xeon e5410 2,33Ghz Happertown -> 2x275$ = 550$
-TYAN S2696A2NRF motherboard -> 379$
-4GB Kingston DDR2 FB-DIMM DDR2 667 -> 214$
-Antec TITAN650 case -> 140$
-CORSAIR CMPSU-620HX PSU ->170$

So... What I must to choice for????

My doubts:

- If I would overclock the Quad core to 3,5 or 4 Ghz it would be a lot faster in desktop applications than the xeon system? (like in After Effects or Photoshop, that doesnt use the multiple cores very efficiently)
- Having DDR 667Mhz memory (5 of latency) would make a big difference between the desktop 1066Mhz DDR2 one?

In the following Intel benchmark the result are incredible: Legit Reviews - Intel Shows Off 8-Core 45nm Penryn Benchmarks - Intel Deals Another Blow - Is It Deadly?

I've made calculations having the the cinebench benchmark results ..

If a Quad core 3,33ghz = 12881 points
and
Xeon V8 3Ghz = 22936 points

Quad core q9450 Overclocked to 4 Ghz would make = 15472 points
Xeon V8 2,33 Ghz = 17813 points

Being the machine for a mix between multi-threated applications and non ones, the desktop one would be better, isnt it???

So, why seem that no one are considering to purchase the Xeon systems when it cost the same as desktop ones nowadays?????
Why there are so little number of benchmarks and reviews of XEON sytems in the web?????

Thanks.
