My Computer

Default Widescreen monitor

Im running on a 21-22" widescreen monitor (i cant remember the size). The thing i noticed is that i can only run it on the highest resolution there is, which starts at 1440 (1440 x 768 i s what im running it at i think). I can't run it on any other widescreen monitor resolutions. Is that normal or am i supposed to be able to run it at the other widescreen resolutions too? It's becoming a problem for gaming.

Most of the wide-screen monitors and more importantly your graphics card/drivers should allow you to set different resolutions - although it is important to note that the 'native' resolution will always look the best - LCD's are much more sensitive to this than CRT's ever were

Check what your monitor's specifications to check it's native resolution and then stick to it

(If you have problems in games - usually older ones that don't support wide-screen see if there is an option to run the game in 'windowed' mode, this, while it will no longer fill the screen but will look the best it can)

I have the NEWEST drivers that came out. The game that i play is TF2, which is fairly new. I want to be able to set it to a lower resolution but it looks all distorted and doesnt even fill the whole screen even though my widescreen option is on.

Why do you need to set the lower res? if it is for performance issues then you'll have to lower graphics quality (ie. draw distance, textures, etc), you'll never get it looking as 'right' as it does running at the native resolution.

Sorry bout that, just the luck of the draw, some TFT/LCD's support many, many multiple resolutions (like mine) but even then it never looks as good as at 1920*1200 (my native res.)
