Default Wii - Suspected Price

BBC NEWS | Technology | Nintendo gives European Wii price

The Wii console from Japanese gaming giant Nintendo will cost under 250 euros (£170) in Europe, according to a senior executive at the company.

The figure is the first time the games giant has given a European price.

Bernd Fakesch, head of German operations at the company, mentioned the figure in an interview at the Leipzig Game Convention in Germany.

In May, the company said the console would cost 25,000 yen or lower in Japan and $250 (£133) or less in the US.

When it is released later this year, the Wii console will compete with Sony's PlayStation 3 (PS3) and Microsoft's Xbox 360. No exact date for the Wii's launch has been given.

OMG! That's flippin' cheap I must say!

It's not official though - that kinda sucks.

Yeah it's a good deal, last I heard was about $225 in the US. We'll see. Not that many games on the Wii have really impressed me that much but nintendo knows what they're doing, they always come up with good ones.

Hey

The wii over here in the UK is going to be 150 pounds, im not sure if thats official. But the guy i know over here in GAME say thats the cost and they will taking preorders soon.

Im don't actual think thats, that good of a price. Sure tis got the mad interactive video interface, but thats all its got. In fact let me rephrase that, thats all its got for me. The original nintendo game types aren't that big of a deal for me. And intill i've played it im still not going to be convinced on how good the interactivity of the console is.

Thanx
