Will my o/s still work if I use a board with different bios?

I got a computer off a friend of mine and it does not post at all it powers up all the fans come on so the power supply seems to be working fine. I tried to reset the jumpers,took the battery out went to sleep woke up put it back and still nothing. I visually inspected the capacitors they do not show a visual signs no bulging or leakage or anything like that. I googled E206922 p-s1 and the only replacement i could find was on some site i never heard of so I figured I would just get a different motherboard but I was wondering if the hard drive would be detected and start up as usual? I have AMI Bios now the board I am thinking about has Intel Bios. Oh yea its a socket 370 board

The BIOS is irrelevant. What can throw a wrench in the works is the chipset. Going from one chipset to another can be a problem, but not necessarily. What you should do after swapping motherboards is boot into safemode (hit F8 before the Windows screen for your boot options) and then uninstall the old chipset drivers. After that you'll be prompted to reboot, so go ahead and do so. When you're back in Windows, install the new motherboard's chipset drivers.

It could work, but often it doesn't. Safe mode, or if that doesn't work repair installation with your xp disc, and that should make it start up normally.

If you have vista and safe mode doesn't work, repair probably won't, so you will have to reformat.

alright big b will do so, and So i should make sure i get a board that comes with a disc so i can install the drivers from there correct? after uninstalling the old

I think all boards should come with software discs (unless they're second hand). I had an XP installation that survived a motherboard swap, and then later on it was moved to a totally different computer, and both times it worked as long as I booted into Safe Mode (I didn't have to uninstall any drivers), allowed it to recognise the new hardware, and then booted into Windows normally.

I guess the chipset should be the same cuz since i took the cpu out and seen it was a amd socket 462,thats cool so I guess the chipset will be the same. The board i was going to get was pull from a retired machine beacause the only new board was nlx form factor for the price range but i guess i can get something i might be able to browse the net with.
