Smile windows xp sp2 "activation key" question

When somebody purchases winxp is the activation key only assigned for that cd . Or can winxp be installed on another computer and then later purchase winxp again with another activation key.

Please help

Thank You

My Computer

You can use the CD on another PC, but you will not be able to activate it. But, I believe like you said, if you bought another copy and then used that key, it would be fine.

There are millions of CD Key's that work for any disk, but you can only use one once.

Yea once you activate with one particular key its stored in a database at MS and if major changes to your system aremade then sometimes it asks you to reactivate to stop people installing it on more than 1 pc.
