Default windows xp wont install...please help

Hi guys,i really need your help on this one.

I cant seem to install windows xp in a machine i got from a friend.
The usual process of install xp goes well until the part where the files that are needed for windows xp are copied to the hard disk so that it can boot again and start installing, but after it copies the files to the hard disk ..it usually is supposed to bring the windows xp logo and start installing xp...but it goes back to where it says inspecting your hardware instead of installing windows xp....

so question ....

what am i doing wrong

and is it a problem with the motherboard or the hard disk..because i have even switched hard disks and it still does the same with the other hard disk...it installs the files but when the system restarts instead of installing xp it goes back to inspecting hardware again..

PLEASE HELP me ...thanks guys

The problem here seems to be with your BIOS. It seems to be that your system keeps on booting from the disk even though its supposed to go on to the regular installation of Windows. Try this:

Install windows one more time like you normally would. Now after your system restarts, quickly go into your BIOS settings by pressing the DEL key or whatever key your BIOS specifies.
Once in, go to your "Boot Priority" settings.
You'll see about 3 items listen in first to last order, first being the first priority and last being the last priority. Set the first to be your Hard Drive, and last to be your CD/DVD rom.
Save, exit the BIOS and it should go straight to the next process of installation instead of from the CD.

Check the install CD ? start install and hit enter to start from CD,then just let it install,
DO NOT Hit enter again...After rebooting the first time ,do not hit enter again, just let it do its thing..
