Machine is a Pentium3 550Mhz. For the past two weeks, it doesn't boot normally from cold. When the Power switch is pressed, the Monitor remains blank, but the red LED light to the HD is active. I switch the machine on and off for about 4-5 times with a minute interval in-between. Usually, after the 5th try, it then boots normally. I have checked the Samsung HD and the two 164Mb each SDRam on another machine and they work fine. Since power comes on immediately, I have ruled out the PSU. It seems the BIOS sequence is not being loaded immediately but here I am on unknown ground being totally ignorant of IT saavy. I have tried to follow search links but as there is no specific "error message", I haven't yet located a suitable answer. Can someone point out any possible solution to this annoying problem? Thanks
Try this.... Remove the power Cable from the back of your System.. Press and hold the power button of your system for around 30secs. Replug the power cable and turn it on...see if it works.
Thanks for taking the time to reply to my post. I had tried your suggestion with the power cable inserted, with no success. I have now tried your tip with the cale removed, but still it required 4 tries at the Power button until finally it booted. I was thinking of letting the PC powered on for a whole night, then switch it off and try boot up after say, 2-3 hours. Thanks again.
Then start with Bare Bones system... Jst use CPU 1XRAM stick HDD Graphics(only if u dnt have on board) Power it on n see if it works in one go....
