    Hi,

I have just brought a lightscribe samsung dvd rom and when I installed in in the pc as the 2nd dvd rom it does not get recognised by the bios and indeed windows Vista. I have tried swapping the connections around and when I set the new drive as the primary one. it works but again the secondary one does not get recognised by windows. anyone know why?

    Thanks

my moto is a asrock am2 socked board

Check the jumper settings. Set the first drive to master, and the second one to Slave.

or set both devices as C/S (cable select)[ot]then each device will then be assined to master or slave depending where on the cable it is installed[/ot]BTW: C/S also prevents ware & tear on the jumpers, because you don't move the jumpers you just move the drives location on the cable
