Hi, does anyone know what caused the bluescreen of death at all? I have reinstalled my pc and I got a quick bluescreen just when vista was finalising. anyway to check if the hardware is all running ok? THanks
BSOD can happen once and then you will never see it again (yeah right.... but for how long? ). It can indicate a local instance where there was a clash of interest in your system. It could very well be that the clash will not happen again. However, in more serious cases, the clash is permanent, due to component/program faliure or incompatability. I would leave it and see if it happens again. If it does not, then just leave it. Do not panic. BSOD, is not your friend but is still a part of Windows way of protecting the system from damage (or so it claims). You could run some checks on your system as long as your components support the health checks available. Programs like SpeedFan can check the S.M.A.R.T state of your HDD, memtest can check you RAM, Sysoft Sandra can check your CPU and how it performs under stress and some mobo's and G cards come with software which also monitors their health. The best way to see if your system is healthy is if it performs to expectations. If it is working fine and stable, then you should be OK....
Hi, i am not able to see the error messages as it shuts down so quick - it does mention the dumping my memory or something along those lines, I have just done the ms ram diagnostics and it did show some test on my ram had failed. What can i do about the ram? its blue screening after about every 3 hours now..
As i can see that you have 4GB RAM so you need to work a litle bit now because I think one of the RAM stick in your computer is a Culprit... Check each RAM stick with Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool and find out which one is bad hah:
Like he said, find out which stick or sticks are bad. Memtest will show you the MB where the error ocurred, which can help figuring out if there's an issue with one stick or across the board. If it's across the board, go into BIOS and set your default DRAM speed from 200 to 166. The Athlon64 doesn't cope well with 4 sticks of RAM sometimes, and if that's your situation, that could very well be why you're getting errors.
