Hi I have 2 user accounts on winxp. admin & 1 for my brother. my brothers has administrative rights but whenever he tries to log off or switch user then sometimes it gets stuck at "Logging off screen" or "switching user" screen. i have winxp with sp2 installed.
your system could be in need of a format & a clean reinstall of XP, i'd also consider slipstreaming SP2 into your XP install CD[ot]if you haven't already[/ot]
Reinstallation is NOT the way to go. gumdigger, please report warnings and errors in the Event Viewer. Oh, and before I forget, please don't run as Administrator full time..
There were no warnings or errors in event view before or after the hangup appeared. also why not to use admin account?
Turn your attention to programs running in the background, such as in the system tray. A buggy program can delay Windows logging off. See here
