I'm having troubles getting my SONY DVD RW DW-D22A drive to to stuff that until about 2 weeks ago, it had no problems with: burning and reading CD-RW's and DVD-R's.

The problems began, (I am guessing) when I installed a USB device (Pace Interlok, a copy protection Dongle), then uninstalled it. The DW-D22A then refused to burn or read CD-RW's.

    Thing's I've tried:

    - System Restore (to before installing the iLok)
    - Uninstalling, then reinstalling the driver via the Device Manager
    - Resetting my MoBo's BIOS to default settings

One interesting thing to note, is that under the Device Manager the drive shows up under the "Unknown" category, instead of under "DVD/CD-ROM Drives". Weird.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    AbeAbe

Right Click on the device and Uninstall it... Restart your computer.. Your PC will tell u that a new hardware is detected..then go through that wizard..See if this works :eek:hah:

Does this device happen to use Starforce copy protection?

You mean the iLok dongle? It's made by Pace, is used to copy-protect music software.

Thanks. I just recently flashed the DW-22A DVD RW it and it worked for probably 2 weeks to a month before this problem showed up.

    I guess I could re-flash it but I doubt that's the problem.

How many HDD's and CD/DVD drives you have got?
If more than one on a same IDE Cable then make sure that jumpers are correct..

I don't see how that would be a problem... They (2 DVD drives + 1 HD) were working fine to my knowledge before installing the iLok.
