If your planing on getting a Wii for Xmas then buy it from Germany they haven't taken to it like the rest of world don't ask why so buy it from German website and the will ship to UK. A lot of them are doing this because of high demand in other countries but not Germany.;)

Good for Nintendo. I suppose having too much demand is better than having too little.

Well I'm a business student and what i see is strategy behind that lack of supply of Wii consoles. If theres high demand for a product some companies deliberately decrease the supply by a bit so it creates a hype for the product. Wii shortages have been all over newspaper and media.

I can see your point, but I wouldn't say the shortages have been all over the media. Nintendo would be foolish not to take advantage of the high demand at christmas before it's competitors begin to take hold of the market. I believe it's just a case of a cheap console being in high demand because of a novelty feature.

Yeah ferg they are because it was on BBC news and they where giving tips about where to get a Wii and thats what they recommended. I guess the console would work in UK because Europe has same electronic products I think. Only difference is UK has different plug so get your self a plug from here. (lol i bet theres a shortage of Wii plugs too)

I know theres a catch to it, maybe Nintendo over estimated the demand for it. But people will still by after Xmas (the January sales). So Nintendo can sell them then.

And where's your proof? Yes, people will still want a Wii after Christmas, but do you know how much shopping is done between the day after Thanksgiving and the end of December? Why would Nintendo want to stop people from buying the Wii and ploddingly put them out when people are going to buy them for Christmas?

Have you worked retail in January? Do you know how dead it is? It's not that the Wii won't sell, but that won't make up for lost sales in December. People have spent themselves silly in the prior month and simply aren't that eager to hit the stores again. There is a massive contrast between these months.
