Hardware geeks fail to bump Crysis sales - The INQUIRER Well, this proves two things, the high gaming end market is really that small, and nobody bought Vista. As Crysis and UT4 fell short of their predicted sales figures. Yeah, a lot of people are blaming this on people just not that many people buying into the high end market, but at the same time, a lot of this falls on Vista and DX10. Its kind of hard to make a good sale when your are selling something on a platform that isn't so well supported by consumers.
I bet one of the reason why people are not buying these games is that they are downloading them for free on illegal websites i have seen so many downloads of these games.
i don't mean to be rude, but in the greater scheme of things, i don't really think illegal downloads effected overall sales that greatly. I'm not saying they didn't effect anything, but if you read the article, its pretty much all there.
Your not being rude, this is a good debate. Maybe you are right but i was just giving a plausible explanation. I mean if you look at the figures of 80,000 units sold then if 5,000-10,000 people downloading it illegally then it is going to have an affect.
No, i get that, thats a good point, but the reasons they sold so poorly are for the other aforementioned reasons, however, it would be cool to see something like a figure for the estimated amount of pirated versions of ether game. On that, i did see a You Tube video explaining how to get Crysis for free. Granted it was taken down almost immediately, but yeah.
Just to reiterate the point. Ive built a new system in the past week and have chosen to run XP and DX9. I fail to see the advantages of have having Vista.
