I want too be able to play the newish games on low-mid settings without spending a lot of money, I came up with this for $660 (I live in Australia that's why its an Australian site) Here is the link: Techbuy AMD Casual Gamer Computer System - *Customisable* (79018 | TBOS79018) | Techbuy Australia Here is what I Customized it to be: ------------------------------------------------------------------ Case: Centurion 5 Midi-Tower Case - 460W PSU Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-M68SM-S2L Motherboard AM2, GeForce 7025 + nForce 630a, HT 2000, 2x DDR2-800, PCI-Ex16, 4x SATA-II, RAID, GigLAN, 6Chl, DVI+VGA, mATX CPU: Athlon64 X2 6000+ (3.0Ghz), AM2, 2x1MB, 2000HT, Dual Core - Retail 89W Version HDD: 320GB 7200rpm Serial ATA-II 300 HDD CD/DVD Drive: 22x DVD+-RW Dual Layer DVD Burner Video Card: XpertVision GeForce 9500GT - 512GB GDDR2, 128-bit, PCI-Ex16 v2.0 (500MHz, 1.4GHz) - Super Edition ------------------------------------------------------------------ OK, my main uncertainty is the CPU because I have never used AMD before. Also if anyone thinks I might have troubles with the video card i can always upgrade to: Innovision GeForce 9600GT - 512MB DDR3 256-bit, 2x DVI, HDTV, HDCP - PCI-Ex16 v2.0 - (650MHz, 1.8GHz) - Armour Edition For $55 Replies would be very appreciated! For the budget your on i would say that's the best choice of CPU and as for graphics card i really recommend you get the 9600GT or even better the ATi 4850 (but a little more expensive i guess shop around and see) BTW how much memory you going to put???? As for gaming it will defo play half life 2, DoD and CS source very well but i doubt you can play COD4 or Crysis or any of the new DX10 games very well.. So what game do you intend on playing on this rig???
"well but i doubt you can play COD4 or Crysis or any of the new DX10 games very well.. " I am getting 2 gig of ram, my friend has 1 gig of ram, a Pentium 4 2.4Ghz and a Nvidia Geforce 7400 256Mb and he can run call of duty 4 on medium settings.... ah never mind, Ill find out when I buy it. And I also decided that I am going to get the 9600. Thanks for the reply -0Firehawk0
I don't really mind, as I said I only want to play on low-med settings. Currently I am using an on board Intel GMA 950 Any I don't really care about the res, firstly because the screen that im playing on isn't that big and secondly I don't mind if it is a bit under quality) After using the GMA all I really want now is something that will at least PLAY the game even on low settings. Also, the RECOMMENDED sytem requirements for COD4 is 1 GB of ram and an Nvidia GeForce 7800 Im getting 2 gigs of ram a 3Ghz dual processor and a Geforce 9600.Here is a screen shot of the Nvidia 9600 website (NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT ) It shows COD4 as an exaple of the 9600 HD gaming capability. -0Firehawk0
Ok mate im sorry if i annoyed you with the medium setting comment lol and go easy with the pic next time lol BTW COD4 is kind of short game but i guess multiplayer will keep you busy for a while. Crysis single player is very long .
Nah, i not annoyed i just like to be as detailed as possible (and confident with what im buying) lol Yea, ive played crysis before and it was very enjoyable, anyway I have gone ahead with buying the system with 2gig of ram and the GeForce 9600GT. Thankyou very much for the help, 0Firehawk0
