Hi, first post here anywayz, i just got a new computer Specs: core i7 920 @ 2.66Ghz 6gb ddr3 @ 815mhz inno3d gtx 260 896mb toughpower 650w thermaltake 1tb seagate @ 7200rpm Samsung blu-ray read/write combo my question is, why is there still 30% ram usage when i now have 6gb of ram? (not that its a problem, all games run fine and everything) but just out of curiosity, shouldnt the usage be alot lower?
Welcome to HWF I assume you're running Windows Vista or Windows 7. Right-Click Computer, and choose Properties. In the properties window, does it show "32-Bit Operating System" or "64-Bit Operating System"?
hey, yeh its windows 7 64-bit, sorry forgot to mention. its using 2.06gb of ram right now, and all im doing is typing this message and msn.
I also have 6 GB of RAM and running Vista in a dual-boot. I'm having the same RAM usage. Windows Vista and 7 reserve a certain percentage of RAM to run the system processes, so the OS can never run out of RAM that quick. As long as stays below 50-60%, it should be okay.
hm i see, fair enuf, lol just dont like the numbers :x: everythings running flawlessly tho, luv this new system thanks for the quik replies
Sure, no problem If the RAM usage would be too high, or you receive an error message about Page File Swapping, feel free to ask for more help
