I dont think many of us have anywhere near enough cash for what they realy would like. But ive been told that its good to dream big. So anyone got a dream rig.

I'm guessing this as a desktop computer, not a SMP server powerhouse :D.

AMD Athlon 64 FX 60 (only current dual core FX)
2/4GB of Geil Golden dragon module, haven't looked into this though
    Asus A8N32 SL Deluxe
4 WD Raptor 150GBs, in RAID (striping mirrored)
    2 Geforce 7800GTX 512mbs in SLI
PC Power and Cooling Turbo-Cool 510 Express / SLI

    Oh yes :D

Pretty much what I'd had in mind except I'd go with 2 Seagate Cheetah's (15k rpm) in raid 0 myself. Quad SLI is on the way too but it's not really out yet so I'll skip that bit. I'm not sure if any dual opteron capable mobo's support SLI yet but if so that would be pretty sweet.

    *AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core FX60
*DFI LanParty NF4 SLI-DR EXPERT (Might need a BIOS update in future before I could use FX60)
    *2GB / 4GB GeiL One-Series RAM
    *2 x 780GTX 512MB (Pre-Overclocked)
    *2 x 150GB WD Raptor HDD's (RAID 0)
    *2 x Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache
*2 x Pretty much any DVD+/-RW DL Drive (they're all pretty good nowadays)
*Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro
*WaterChill Xtreme CPU/VGA/Chipset Cooling Kit - Triple 120mm Radiator/6 Fans
*Thermaltake VA8000SWA Armour Aluminium Super Tower - Silver (Not sure if this would take the PSU though, those PSU's are on the big side...)
*PC Power & Cooling 1000W PSU
*DELL Ultrasharp 3007WFP 30" Widescreen LCD Monitor
*Probably a BOSE Acoustimass® 15 Home Cinema Speaker System (BOSE Speakers = incredible!)
*Razer Copperhead Tempest Blue 2000dpi High Precision Gaming Mouse
    *Saitek PZ30AU Eclipse Illuminated Keyboard

    That's about it really...plus cables.

Yeah that would probably max fear on whatever insane resolution the 30"er runs at which is mighty impressive seeing that FEAR doesn't really appreciate SLI.
    Nice picks man.

The resolution of that screen is 2560 x 1600, that's a mighty big screen!

Yeah a 4 Megapixel screen, view digital photos at their actual resolution, that would be insane. I don't gae to much so I'd probably end up having 2 of those screens (One per graphics card) Now that would be cool!

Totally crazy! 60''s would be so panoramic you'd get lost. The only down side is mousing from one edge to the other would tire you out.

The Raptors I'd have now are the Raptor X's, (got a clear top on them so you can see the drive working)...and yes it may just be for show but it's a dream rig, may as well have everything, then you'll have more bragging rights!

If I had the cash, I'd go with a dual-opteron SLI with SCSI and 4 150GB raptors (raptors in RAID 5). I went through Newegg, and what I put together costs over $7,000...plus shipping. It would, of course, be excessively more than I need (hell, most of the time, my 800MHz laptop is more than I need).

It's a dream rig, who cares!

Got me thinking, what could I do with the money if I won that Euromillions lottery...(that Euromillions lottery is at like £100,000,000 now  , that's insane!!)

I would have kick-ass servers, and like 50 'top-of-the-line' gaming rigs - then I'd fly regular members of HWF over to my big a$$ mansion/castle :p and have a nice LAN party (1 laptop per member attending on entry)

That would cost a bomb but who cares when you have £100,000,000!!! That little idea would cost the equivalent of fluff in the pocket that caries the money :p

    Hehe

    I want that money... :eek:hah:

I would've gone with a quad Opteron board, but they don't come with PCIe x16 slots, let alone SLI.

I'd get one of those top 10 supercomputers with like 32000 gigs of ram...and run DOS. Yes, DOS. and then i'd play...the original...doom. how hawt is that. dont think those boards come with SLI though :p

For $2,000 the Dell 3007wfp 30" display better be all its cracked up to be or its going right back to Dell.

For another $2,000 I picked up another PC:

Intel chipset 975X Express (can push an Intel Extreme 3.8)
    Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 2.13 GHz, 2 MB, 1066 MHz FSB
    NVIDIA Quadro FX1500 256MB PCIe
    HP 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2-667 ECC RAM
    HP 80GB SATA 3Gb/s 7200
And some DVD drive and a burner

Blowing over $4,000 in two hours makes me feel sick..

I'd get an Intel Xeon core SMP with 4GB DDR2. I'd run 5 different Linux distributions at the same time, just for fun :D I'd probably add some high end M-audio sound card as well. Not too bothered about the graphics card - if it can run XGL then I am happy.

Yeah those new Xeon 'Woodcrest' CPU's are beasts! I'd like a couple of them (both dual core of course) although my current laptop isn't sluggish so I'll stick with it for now :p
