New partition without format

    hello there :hi2: im trying to buy COUGH COUGH partition magic but cant find it anywhere, im certinally not paying nearly $70 to split my hdd.

    what i want is a new drive (say F:) for my documents so that when i need to format i wont need to worry about me impotant stuff so is there a program out there that can do this for free or near-free

    Of course there is.

    There is the GParted linux liveCD which is built SPECIFICALLY for repartitioning hard drives and fits on a business card CD. Check it out here.

    All you need to do is download it, burn it and boot it. Backup your stuff first though.

    dont bother with partition magic. You wil be "taking it back" in no time at all.
    Paragon Partition Manager is what you want.

    I don't see any reason for paying for partition software, unless you want someone to scream at when things go wrong.

    dont get PM, its shi*. i merged two partitions on a new drive and everything on the partitions was GONE and i cudnt access the data without formatting the partition.
