Does anyone know of a decent bootable test for processors.

Ive tried the programs on the ultimate boot cd but haven't had much luck with them. Its annoying because ive got a £800 diagnostics floppy (!) which doesnt have cpu tests!

My computer rebooted the other day and refuses to boot into windows ever since. Ive disconnected everything, swapped power supplies etc tried to run live cds etc but no joy. memtest86+ runs for 15-20mins but then pops up saying there was an interrupt error, though it says there are no memory errors.
Ive narrowed it down to the motherboard or processor.
I think the processor is the culprit; it has been overclocked by 20% for very nearly 5 years now and although the temperatures have been very low the voltage which was set to 1.6v often spiked to 1.65v ish. Northwoos are said to be short lived if run at 1.7v so....

Im a bit puzzled as to why microscope works faultlessly though. Also when I try to load an OS it seems fine for a while. Can a faulty CPU work for a while without showing and problems.... I would normally have thought that if the CPU was faulty id have problems from the moment I turn the PC on. BIOS has been slow on one occasion, thats it.

Could be that two devices are conflicting with each other by using the same IRQ address (interrupt)

Look in the BIOS for 'PnP Configuration' and reset the data. Failing that, a BIOS reset should reconfigure the IRQ addresses. However BIOS resets can bring about their own problems as well.

I have noticed that there are more devices in my IRQ list. But ive also unplugged everything and reset cmos.

I might pull everything out I dont need then reset the cmos.

Thanks for the replies! I forgot about this thread.
