jus wanted to make sure that my WD 2500ks sata 2.0 clicks three times when the computer is switched on and then the computer starts up normally. also when accessing data it does it, smart is enabled but doesnt show any warnings when starting up and also checked it with WD smart test and was OK. is it dying, i think that it will so jus need to back up data and RMA it

no it's probably not die-ing, my IDE drives do it regular, i just disconnect and reconnect it, and problem solved - hope same works for SATA drives

Try getting a program to get a breakdown of the smart checks. I use one called diskcheckup

tried the full WD test and reports no errors. afterall they make the drive and know the best configuration to test the drives so if that reports it fine then it shud be but i reckon that its going to flop up

SMART reports are far better than the manufacturer checks. You get a quantitave status of many parts of the drive not just an OK at the end.
