Hi guys, I recently had to install a new hard drive ( after the last one died, wouldn't even boot in safe mde) I've installed xp pro, and now it wont let me play a dvd it just keeps saying " Windows Media Player cannot play DVD video. You might need to adjust your Windows display settings. Open display settings in Control Panel, and then try lowering your screen resolution and color quality settings ". " I've tried adjusting the settings, but with no luck. Can anybody help ? PS. when I had my old drive in it wouldn't let me burn DVD's with nero, does anybody know why ?
Have you got the required DVD mpeg4 codecs? Download the [google]k lite codec pack[/google] and try it.
how are you trying to run a DVD <file> <open> or autorun ? what type of DVD's (DVD-r, DVD+r or RW media ?)
I get get dvds to play thru media player classic , but not the more up to date media player !! All very strange.,and I've been using dvd+rw .
Well, the good news is that you can play DVD in WMP. The bad news is that it will cost you. Do not let the title "classic" fool you. It is just a simple no nonsence player using an unbeatable pack of codecs and most imortant - it is free as in free lunch!!!! The only thing that is up to date in your WMP is the graphics... mmmmm. I have not used WMP in ages and to be frank, if the removal procedure was a bit more straight forward (Windows? Straight forward? BLAH!!!!), it would have been long gone fom my PC. If you want to pay circa $15 to use a useless media player, be my guest... I know where I am going... Capiche?
