IT WORKS!!!! it was a combination of the old cpu fan shotring the processor to the case, and the cmos battery was bad. Thanks donkey!

umm... I don't think its the psu. I put in another psu that I'm 99.9% sure is working fine and I had the exact same thing happen. I'm pretty sure that donkey was right when he suggested cmos battery.

thanks for the reply donkey! my psu is an "ULTRA V Series ATX" and for the cmos battery...it looks like a watch battery. Can I just go buy a replacement in the grocery store for $3? Or do the two batteries just look similar? Where would be the best place to get a replacement?
