    i have done - just the monitor playing up with the agp card i think.... will have to try another card and see if i can stabilise it with that

    thats easier said than done - having trouble reinstalling windows as screen problems remain and make it impossible towards the end of a windows installation. I would have a go at all the stuff you said if i could get the installation done with out any hiccups.

    just sold my other monitor before it happened!! just swapped hdd to see if that was prob..... but monitor still on and off (power stays on, but screen goes off) this is why i am trying to rule out components one by one. I think it may be the graphics card myself, but wanted other peoples...

    i bought an lcd for my amd ages ago, all worked fine until the other day, when my programs stopped initialising. I thought i might be virused, so tried reinstalling windows. However, when i put my disc back into the drive, my lcd came on for a few minutes, then stayed on but wouldnt display...
