i RMA'd a Seagate 320Gb drive back to Seagate, and the replacement arrived today, the replacement is a 320Gb Maxtor drive i didn't want a Maxtor drive, i wanted a Seagate drive if i'd wanted a Maxtor drive, i would have bought a Maxtor drive but i didn't, i wanted a Seagate drive what do you guys think ?[ot]i know Seagate took control of Maxtor earlier this year[/ot]
Yeah, I noticed Seagate controls Maxtors RMAs now. Id get on to them. They must know that seagate has a better name than maxtor so should expect problems when they send out maxtor drives to replace seagates. In fact id really see my arse if that happened to me.
well, i decided to phone Seagate, and the person i talked told me that Maxtor drives are just rebadged Seagate drives, (that's when i called him a lier:O ) but he was correct because on the label it says "manufactured by Seagate it looks like a Seagate drive the microchips are laser eched with ST (Seagate Technology) so i've decided to keep the drive[ot]if it fails after 18 months, the guy i talked to said "just send it back to us[/ot][ot]feel bad now about calling him a lier, but he's a big boy, he'll get over it[/ot]
Well, that's good to know that Seagate is simply taking their own drives and slapping a Maxtor tag on them now. I just might buy a Maxtor drive the next time I need one if that's all that's being done.
me too, i didn't like Maxtor drives but now their Seagate drives[ot]i'll probably see which is cheaper[/ot]
