    Hi,

    I have 2 questions:

    1) What is better; 512 DDR2 800MHz vs. 1024 DDR2 667MHz?

    2) Is DDR2 supported on any AMD AM2 below the 5000+?

    Thank you in advance.

1024MB DDR 667Mhz is the best best as there is more ram, allthough the DDR 800Mhz is faster. Is the 512mb performance ram or value ram?

For AM2, i belive you need to have DDR2 Memory.

It depends on how much ram you think you will use. What sort of programs will you be using?

I personally would buy 512mb of ddr2 800, that way when the time is right it will easy to another 512mb and have 1gb of ddr2 800.

Depends on what you're doing, but for RAM, the amount is generally more important than the speed. High-speed RAM will be beneficial only if you intend to overclock.

The PCxxxx is simply a rating of the maximum guaranteed speed. Unless your CPU requires 800MHz RAM, it will not function at that speed automatically. Even then, Athlon 64's aren't that sensitive to memory settings, so going with slower RAM isn't really going to matter a great deal, even in benchmarks.

Increasing the amount of RAM will do much more for you because it allows more to be open without slowdowns. Gaming is one area where you will reap benefits by having more RAM. It's smoother game play, and while the video card is also very important, if the system is getting hung up during a session, it is noticeable. The best upgrade I've done to my main box is going from 512MB to 1GB. I've also upgraded my video card and CPU at other points, and that has given me the most noticeable gain while playing. There's less lag and stuttering during heavy combat sequences. Now, granted my FPS isn't jumping up significantly, but the video card isn't being held back by the system.
