    Hi

I have recently bought at laptop and the onboard speakers were working fine but i decided to buy some cheap speakers anyway. The other day my onboard speakers stop working and only the right speaker of the speakers of bought is working. When i pull the audio plug out of the audio port about halfway the other speaker switches on and sometimes the onboard speakers decide to work. If anyone could help me fix this that would be great.

    Thanks

    Mike

    Welcome to hardwareforums Deviant!

First off, i would check that the on board speakers are not muted... there is a this is an option under volume control normally (called "PC Speaker")

The little black bands you get around the 3.5mm jacks let you know if its mono or stereo. Theres one for mono and two for stereo. You probably have a stereo plug but only the part of the plug for the right speaker is working and when you move it about the left part of the plug is moving enough to work . It might just be dirt inside the female end of the connection.

I couldn't find any options about muting the on board speakers. I don't think it is muted because sometimes when i move the 3.5mm jack around in the connection the on board speakers start working.

I tried blowing in the audio connection but i'm still having the same problems. I tried the speakers in another computer and they work fine.
