this wont be easy to explain but ill try.

i have an adaptec U320 scsi adaptor with a 15000rpm cheetah drive attached to it. the drive has a "small" scsi interface where the cable connects, and the card has the same size connector.

i have another drive id like to connect to the second channel on the scsi card but this drive has a "big" scsi interface (i know, i know... but thats the best i can do LOL)

is there a cable adapter that has "big" on one side and "small" on the other so i can use this drive?

i am no SCSI expert, but you should be able identify the connectors using the attached image... from that you can work out what your looking for (ie type A to type B adapter). i believe "mannlich" and "weiblich" are German for male / female (as the image shows both plugs and sockets)

There might be some adapters out there, but I think 68-pin to 50-pin (small, big, respectively) are more rare. You'll often seen adapters for 68-pin to 80-pin, but that's for 80-pin hotswap devices. Plus, 50-pin are the older, slower connectors for SCSI, so putting them on the same channel as your U320 68-pin would slow things down.

here is the HP drive i want to connect to my Adaptec U320 card:

(the picture shoes the drive in the tray that slides into the Proliant servers, i removed the drive from the tray of course)

does anyone know the adapter i would need?

A Larger Image might be helpful, even if it was a closeup from a mobile phone camera :)

Yup, that'd do the trick. Your HP drive is an 80-pin hot-swappable unit, but that adapter will get you going.
