    Best AM2 mobo

hiya guys . new to this forum , but i have just built a sysyem for my brother in law.your looking for a board that is upgradeble in the future, (ie 2 video cards) then here is the spec of this system
    Amd Athon64 X2 5000Socket AM2 2.6Ghz 1mb 1000FSB
MSI socket AM2nForce 570SLI ATX. with all the usual bits ie Lan 7.1 sound etc
    SapphireTechnology Radeon X1950XTX 512mbGDDR4 PCI-E Dual
    Creative Inspire T7900 7.1 speakers
Gaming case Had a 520w PSU in but the poor old thing could not handle the extra power required for the card So swapped for a 700w
    Crucial 2x512mbPC2-5300 DDRNOn-ECC. Unbuffered CAS4
    Seagate Barracuda7200 320GB S300 Sata Disk
Samsung 20.1" Wide screen 6ms DVI
The system absolutely flys and i .did and now he does runns Doom 3 on Ultra High and Quake 4 ..

Wow! that is impressive! Wish I had something like that.
One question. How did you find out the PSU could not handle the power? The reason I ask is after making a few desktop systems there seldom was found a PUS that was just weak. Most of the time they either the blow up or they run good. Did it blow up on you, or just refuse to handle the load? Would like to know how you tested it.

Yes . sorry i did not get back back .. have had the dreaded lurgy.. On test before habding over with a 520w PSU installed it kept crashing during doom 3 and Quake 4.the card i installed also was a bit suspect , as AtI Catlyst centre and The MSI utilities were all telling me the card was overheating.so as money was sort of no object and he may well SLI another card in the future i put in a 700w PSU from Maplins. Quite as a mouse it is as well,The card i think was drawing too much power due to the fan speed and as a 520w is close to the min spec for the card(450W) it was decided to do it now and eliminate bothy things .
tell you what peeps. It will run both games on ultra high without blinking, but a word of warning . The X1950XTX Radeon 521mb GDDR4 takes up two bays at the back itsd so big but god it works awesome

Hey, nice system you have there, its nothing special to run Doom 3 and Quake 4 at ultra high settings, my X800XT PE can do that, try some games like F.E.A.R and Oblivion, would be a joy on your system :)

Just out of curiosity, what is the make/model of the PSU you have there?
