    Hi all,

I've been happily running an nvidia 6600GT 128mb card with 1GB of ram under window XP home edition for about a year now. However, after installing a game (The guild 2) the other day I have begun to experience graphical problems which have caused almost all games to be unplayable.

I have tried uninstalling the card and drivers and reinstalling a few times but to no avail. It appears as if the graphics are 'streaking' across the screen. I hope you guys can help me shed some light upon this situation and how I can fix it :(

Here are some screenshots of what I am experiencing -

There are patches for the game, apparently 1.2 fixes quite a few problems. It's worth a try but there are naturally no guarentees. Generally getting artifacts like that in a game is a sign that your powersupply is inadequate or dying but it's unlikely if other games have run well and been glitch free.

well I've always had both game patched fully so I take it it must be the power supply :(

It's not really easy to be sure at this point. Are any other games doing this? Do you get crashing and rebooting a lot? Some games stress your hardware more than others but generally it's either all games have issues or none when the powersupply is the blame.

Besides the power supply, the card itself may also be bad, particularly the RAM on the card itself.

i had this problem a long time ago but it was when i went from ingrated to a new card one of my old games stoped working right be the streaking was way way worse but now that im running linux that card works fine so it might not be the ram
